Requiem: Bloodymare a +17 MMO

So I have had the pleasure of trying out the new horror MMO Requiem: Bloodymare, as I have stated before, I am trying as many MMO’s as I can because I am very done with World of Warcraft but still love MMO’s,  and lucky me, I get to often test out MMO’s while still in beta.

Why they call it a horror MMO I am not sure, call me a newbie if you will, but really just because you have demons doesn’t mean you’re a horror game.  The classes are pretty typical, tanks, templars, rogues, and soul hunters, shamans and more.  Obviously there are more classes but nothing that screams, horror.  Now bloody is a different story, the game has done what no other MMO that I am aware of will do, and that is show plenty of blood and body parts flying off and twitching while dying, and that my friends is worth trying the game for!

The game is polished, provides plenty of quests, skills and options for your character and is actually pretty impressive for being a beta, the creatures are very well designed and have some unique looks, not your typical giant bat or spider to fight at low levels, you get true demons with their own unique skins.  However the bad things are pretty bad, people can actually KS from you, and you lose experience when you die, and although I kinda missed those days in EQ and you don’t really notice it at lower levels, I can promise you this will be a big issues once you are close to the end levels.

Also, and this is just me ranting, you would think a game that has a +17 age limit would have less of the name calling and stupid chatter about Chuck Norris, but unfortunately I am wrong, there is plenty of it.  So if you’re like me and just want to enjoy the game with some friends, turn off general chat or ignore it if you can.

Since the game will be free to play, with an option for premium play, I would suggest any MMO fan that isn’t afraid of a little blood give it a try once it’s out of beta, it isn’t that much different from the current or past MMO’s, but at the price it’s different enough to hold my interest for a little while.  You can check out some game play on my youtube page as well and if you’re playing the game, tell us if you like it or dislike it  and why.

I, too, was able to join up for the beta of this game and have to say that it was an enjoyable experience. Watching a reindeer’s head fly off and the body twitch after you have defeated it is a sight to behold.
Unfortunately, i have not reached level 10 yet, so my experience has been limited to the first few “getting to know you” levels. At level 10, the real game starts and you can make your class choices.
I have to agree with Ymiris that the constant global chat is annoying. But it is as easy as turning it off to avoid the mindless “Chuck Norris vs. Mr T.” banter.
But all in all, the game is looking very promising. I especially like the day vs. night aspects. Some creatures only are out at night, others only during the day. this can make for some interesting questing. Also, at different time intervals the screen will flash and you will enter “nightmare” mode. This means that a special creature, needing a party to defeat it, will emerge and wreak havoc on those around it. i had the displeasure of meeting Nephas, a nasty little cherub who rocked my world while i was innocently pounding away on some of his buddies.
All in all if it ends up being a free play, no monthly subscription game, I will definitely give it a go.

I guess I need to check this site more often as I missed out on the beta invite action for this game.

After looking at some of the gameplay vids and seeing on the web site that the Berserker’s have a skill where you set yourself on fire and rush into the enemy I am ready to jump in.

I am really impressed with this game so far.. it may be a suitable replacement for WoW! well, it’s a contender so far, anyway…
